Thirsty
2015

Two-channel HD video (color, sound; 2:15 minutes), plants.

Thirsty, the title of this piece, addresses the radical effect of technology on popular culture and questions the complicated relationships between the virtual and the real in myriad ways, exploring the possibilities of computer-generated spaces as sites of inquiry. Through montage, music and tactility imagery with their surreal, dystopian presentation that evoke uneasy, dreamlike states that feel both familiar and alien, comforting and disturbing, I am interrogating the relationship between reality and virtual representation, I am creating a space that remains a site of fantasy and projection that nonetheless remain linked to real life, an intimate experience where the viewer can feel comfortable and overwhelmed at the same time. In order to successfully experience it, the piece will be ideally situated in one of the corners of the gallery.
