Thirsty

Thirsty approaches the internet as an environment of endless consumption, where images of water, nature, and bodies circulate as surfaces to be scrolled, sampled, and craved. Built from layered found footage and digital textures, the work moves through oceans, swimming pools, and screens that multiply and overlap, until the natural and the mediated become indistinguishable. Installed on the floor among living plants, the screens become pools of light, offering images of water to a body that cannot drink them.
Its title names a desire that is never satisfied: the more images are consumed, the stronger the thirst for the next. Thirsty considers how a culture of high definition, and high depression, shapes our longing for experience, and how the screen comes to stand in for the very things it promises to deliver.
